Day 12: Donate to those in need

I read an article today that said the hundreds of people lined up at the Auckland City Mission to receive food parcels and other essential items in the lead up to Christmas.

logoIt wasn’t just a few people.  It was HUNDREDS.  It saddens me to think there are so many people out there who are struggling to make ends meet over this pressure-filled time.

Despite the hardships being experienced, I am in awe of charities such as the City Mission who actively seek to make life a bit easier for people.  Providing food packages allows people to have a nice dinner with loved ones.  Delivering presents means all children are made to feel special on Christmas day.

I feel privileged to be in the current financial situation I am in, believing I have the means to give to others in the lead-up to Christmas.  One way I plan to do this is by donating canned foods and other perishable items to the City Mission.

So to those of you who also have the means to do so, I encourage you to give to those in need.  The Auckland City Mission is one group who is receiving donations, but there are many others in the community too who woulda appreciate your support.  Check your local community newspaper or on FB for ideas.

#xmascountdown2017  From 1-24 December I will blog daily suggestions with tips and advice on awesome things to do, see or experience during the festive season.  The summer also represents a perfect opportunity on mental and physical wellbeing; a time to re-charge, re-energise and to re-focus.  You’re welcome.
